The mission of RE-CHRIST MINISTRIES is to reach at-risk youth through evangelism and enrichment mentoring. For the past six years we have been serving our community via after school programs, ESL classes, Bible studies, and other seasonal events designed to promote Christ and build a sense of community in lower socio-economic apartment communities located in Gwinnett County Georgia. We have been blessed to disciple and tutor hundreds of students and adults during this time, witnessing many of them develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The design of our outreach is for RE-CHRIST MINISTRIES to be a conduit for the local church and community to unite. It is our vision to provide local church members the opportunity to serve their community while drawing community members into the Body of Christ. In order to be effective for God local churches must meet the spiritual and practical needs of an ever growing community comprised of multi-ethnic cultures by taking the church to the people. "This is pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father, to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (James 1:27 )" In addition to our base ministry, geared at impacting local lower socio-economical apartment communities, we also seek to use the vast opportunities in our community to share the love of Jesus with those is need. We have done this by hosting worship services at the Youth Detention Center, Counseling families who are experiencing drug addiction with their children, working within the local school system, and seeking to impact the homeless living in certain motels throughout our community.

At the heart of our ministry is the volunteer support from the saints in local churches. It takes approximately 25-30 servants to properly maintain an after school program at one apartment community, k-8 grade students, four days a week. Due to the nature of this type of outreach, after school programs, it is important to maintain a consistency with our servant volunteers for an entire school year. This is in the best interest of the students while at the same time helping us to effectively manage a broad volunteer staff. We encourage former educators, current teachers, retired business people, excitable youth, stay at home Moms, or other persons willing to invest in the next generation by committing to working two hours a week with us at a local after school program. Our programs meet Monday-Thursday from 3-5pm (elementary students) and Tuesday and Thursday (middles school students) from 5-7pm. Mid summer is our big push to find volunteer servants for our after school programs, although we traditionally have some people join us during the school year. In addition to our after school programs we are always looking for new English teachers or co-teachers to help us with our ESL classes. Bible teachers desiring to create a Bible study in a local apartment community are needed as well. If none of these ideas grabs your attention, but you are still looking to serve the local community, please consider helping us with one of our seasonal events. We typically host Easter events, summer block parties, Vacation Bible Schools, Movie Nights, Back to School Celebrations, and other events around Thanksgiving and Christmas. These events often require 10-15 servant volunteers, and additional resources. The best way to determine an opportunity is to visit our web site at or simply email or call Matt Johns at or 404-936-8371.
