Our counseling ministry is under the direction of Dr. David Shaw. He holds a doctorate in Pastoral Counseling and is a member of the several counseling associations.

At Peachtree Corners Baptist Church, we are committed to serving God by helping others. Christian counseling starts with the understanding that the Bible is more than a book of facts; it is truth intended to make a difference in the way we live.

It is our belief that Scripture speaks to all of life’s problems, but that sometimes we all need the careful thought and prayerful wisdom of a trained and caring professional to offer encouragement, support, and insight during life’s difficult times of trial. Ultimately, the Bible points us to a relationship with a Person – Jesus Christ. The academic degrees our counselors have pursued in order to serve others are nothing compared with the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. Our greatest joy is to direct others to Him.

What types of counseling do you provide?

Weprovide individual, premarital, marital, and family counseling. If you are addressing an issue that we do not specialize in, we will be happy to assist you with a referral.

How confidential is the information I share in counseling?

Everything you discuss in counseling is kept confidential, with the exception of certain circumstances outlined for professional counselors by the State of Georgia. Basically, these exceptions occur when a counselee shows intent to bring harm to self or others, instances of child abuse, or matters that a court of law would require to be released.

How do I get started?

To set up counseling sessions simply call or email the Counselor directly.

When are counseling sessions scheduled?

Appointments are available at a variety of times. Individual counseling sessions with members of the opposite sex are always scheduled at times when other office staff are present.

How long are counseling sessions and how much does counseling cost?

Individual sessions are generally 50 minutes in length and are usually scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. The per session fee is determined by the counselee's ability to pay. No one is turned away based on inability to pay
